so i'm not typically a a fan of chain restaurants but once in a while i get dragged out by friends and end up in one. while there are tons of them it there most of them serve !@#$%! renditions of dishes that are pleasing to the average palate. i will make slight exception for the olive garden. sometimes you're hungry, feeling a little less adventurous and just want something good that's, mostly, predictable fare.

tonight i turned the the olive garden for just that; good and predictable. at least tonight however the og let me down. well i mean it wasn't all bad... the staff here are always friendly and helpful and i never feel like i'm being ignored. they also work in teams which i think makes the experience a great one. i wish more restaurants would adopt this method. there's nothing worse then having to wait 20 min for your first drink to arrive or trying to get the attention of your assigned waiter/waitress because you need something. anyhow, i digress...on to the food already.

served with my dinner was the usual salad or soup with garlic bread sticks. the salad is always good, perfect temperature and the right amount of dressing. it's also not a cheap side salad; it's got olives, red onions, tomatoes, croutons and those little greek yellow spicy peppers. the bread sticks ( or buttered torpedoes as i like to call them) are soft and chewy and sprinkled with garlic salt. and best of all it's free.

the entree i orders was gorgonzola beef medallions on top of alfredo pasta with fresh spinach. the pasta was cooked a perfect al dente, and there was an ample amount of alfredo sauce. likewise with the beef medallions which i ordered medium rare, very nicely cooked. unfortunately the beef was way over seasoned and the alfredo sauce bland. they should have used the beef seasoning and put it on the sauce and everything would have been good. also i hardly tasted any gorgonzola. i've had this dish before at og and had been quite happy with it, that's why i chose it. my more adventurous side of course protested against it in the first place, but did i listen? so at the end of a long review (sorry about that by the way :) ), i have to conclude that it was just ok tonight. i still enjoyed it, but atypical for og. oh and by the way, why does og insist on trying to sell you a glass of wine by taste testing such terrible wines?? not that i'm a wine snob or anything...well my wife seems to think i am anyway lol.
