Seattle Startup Solves the Dining Dilemma

SEATTLE (December 9, 2010) – A new venture finally answers the age-old question, "what should I order at this restaurant?" Chewsy is a service that cuts through the noise of other restaurant reviews to get to what really matters–the food. Starting December 10th, Chewsy will be available as a free download for the iPhone. Support for additional phones will follow shortly.

"It's time to take the dilemma out of dining," said Co-founder and CEO Chaitanya Sareen. "People will finally order with confidence and discover great food nearby. Eating out is never going to be the same," he added.

Chewsy offers a unique spin to user review sites such as Yelp and Citysearch. First, a spotlight on restaurant menus keeps customer reviews focused on the food, the most important part of the dining experience. Second, an exclusive concentration on a rich mobile solution over a website optimizes for on-the-go patrons, the majority of which struggle to figure out what they want when they're actually seated in a restaurant. Chewsy gives restaurant goers the ability to quickly surface reviews for menu items based on their location. When customers aren't sure where to eat, Chewsy can also reveal top-rated items in the vicinity. Finally, integration with social networks Facebook and Twitter affords easy sharing of reviews with friends.

Chewsy has enjoyed a successful four month beta period to collect preliminary content. Thousands of reviews across tens of thousands restaurants have already been collected for eleven major markets such as Seattle, New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and Miami. Customers outside of the launch cities are able to add restaurant content and reviews to Chewsy and still benefit from the service.

Chewsy, Inc. is a Seattle-based company founded by technology veterans Trevin Chow, Rob Jarrett, Herman Man and Chaitanya Sareen.
